We appreciate our clients and they appreciate us! That’s why 90% of our work comes from repeat business and client referrals.
“Thank you for the fresh, practical, and immensely appealing design you created for the UW School of Music’s season brochure.”
Cynthia St. Clair

“You and Dave are terrific. Taproot’s Acting Studio was expecting a lean year. We had raised our prices considerably and we expected to lose enrollment by at least one-fourth. Instead, as we sent out our fantastic new brochures, we were overwhelmed with responses. Everyone was impressed with our professional line-up of classes and teachers. Instead of less enrollment, we are bursting at the seams. Thank you, thank you for your terrific design.”

About Ray Braun Design – My Story
My parents operated three photo studios in Southern Idaho and I observed what it meant to supply a creative service to the community recording life's events: weddings, baby photos, school photos, sports photos, family portraits, parades, politicians, governors, trains, rodeos, business openings, and even funerals. The photos were, and still are, treasured by their customers. My parents encouraged me to develop an interest in photography and drawing and after two years at the American Academy of Art in Chicago I began my art career.
Several years into my work I was employed by a Seattle advertising agency designing and illustrating newspaper advertisements for various stereo companies around the country. One Sunday, I pulled one of my stereo ads out of the newspaper, proudly showed it to my wife and eagerly asked her, ‘Well, what do you think?’ After a quick glance, she replied "That’s nice." Her nonchalant two-word reply got me to thinking.
I began to realize that not everyone who picked up a newspaper was excited about the slick audio equipment ads into which I had poured my time and energy. In fact, as I thought about it, most of my ads coming out on Sunday would be in the trash bin on Monday! Unlike my father's photography work, my work was completely disposable with no real long-lasting effect on the community or world around me. There was nothing wrong with the type of clients I served, and I liked doing the work but I felt unfulfilled. After long consideration, I decided that it was time to make a change and find a place where my graphic design skills could be put to use in companies and causes I really believed in.
This led me to work for Seattle Pacific University followed by three years with a Christian correspondence school living in Brussels, Belgium. There I was able to use my design and illustration skills, globally helping to create and advertise study courses still used in more than 170 countries. After returning to the U.S. with my wife, two-year-old daughter and a baby on the way, I launched my own business in the basement of our rented duplex.
I formed a business vision of using my skills and experience to serve organizations that could benefit the community as a whole. Clients and businesses not only helping others to make a living but to make a difference in making our world a better place. I targeted clients such as religious and nonprofit groups, education and health care organizations, and small businesses and corporations.
My business grew and my team of designers and support staff at Ray Braun Design continued the mission I began 38 years ago—doing great work for great causes.
Now for the last part of my life I am transitioning to a new career of using my creative talents to create fine art. I hope to inspire and encourage others by creating treasured works of art and bringing more beauty into their world.
